Bicyclist Bill of Rights

Every person who uses our roads has a responsibility to each of us to drive carefully.  As bicyclists, we have certain very important rights.

At Kershaw, Cutter & Ratinoff, it is our belief that every bicyclist has a Bill of Rights. We fight for this Bill of Rights every time we represent a person injured on a bicycle.

  1. Every bicyclist has the right to expect that other people will drive safely.
  2. Every bicyclist has the right to expect others to pay attention while driving.
  3. Every bicyclist has the right to expect that our roads will be reasonably safe for bicycles.
  4. Every bicyclist has the right to expect that manufacturers of bikes and equipment will follow the highest standards when building bicycles.
  5. Every bicyclist has the right to enjoy the freedom of riding on our streets and highways.
  6. Every bicyclist has the right not to be discriminated against by drivers.
  7. Every bicyclist has the right not to be discriminated against by insurance companies.
  8. Every bicyclist has the right not to be discriminated against by medical care providers.
  9. Every bicyclist has the right not to be discriminated against by law enforcement officers.
  10. Bicyclists have as much right to use and enjoy our roads as do motorcycles, cars, trucks, and big-rigs.

Know Your Rights!

In California, you are only eligible to file a personal injury lawsuit for one year after the injury occurred, or possibly sooner in certain circumstances. If you have been injured in a bicycle accident, it is important to contact an attorney immediately to protect your rights.

The experienced attorneys of Kershaw, Cutter & Ratinoff will conduct a prompt and thorough investigation, collect the important evidence, and will deal directly and firmly with insurance companies. We know that investigating bicycle accidents calls for special attention to such important issues as visibility and accident reconstruction. We make sure that these important parts of the investigation are never overlooked.
