Kershaw, Cutter & Ratinoff and Babbitt, Johnson, Osborne & LeClainche Team Up to Represent Individuals and Businesses Injured by the Gulf Oil Spill
KCR and BJOL are currently representing individuals and businesses that have been affected by the Gulf Oil Spill. This oil spill has already become the worst ecological disaster in U.S. History and, unfortunately, the oil is still flowing. The oil slick initially made landfall in southern Louisiana on Friday, April 30th, and has since coated the shorelines of Mississippi, Alabama and Northwest Florida. Scientists predict the oil will eventually reach South Western Florida and the Keys.
The impact on individuals living in Florida will undoubtedly be substantial. Hotels, restaurants, and other tourist based industries have already been affected. If oil begins washing up on docks and beaches, there is no doubt that the property values of all homes on the water will be significantly diminished.
KCR and BJOL bring a unique set of skills to pursue claims for businesses and individuals affected by this disaster. Both firms have the resources and experience to pursue claims on behalf of large numbers of individuals and are willing to do what it takes to get the job done.
At this point, it is expected that many of the claims will be processed through the $20 billion escrow account set up by BP through the Federal Government. That account is currently being administered by Kenneth Feinberg, the same individual who was responsible for overseeing the U.S. Victim’s Compensation Fund that was set up to reimburse victims of the September 11th Terrorist Attack. Attorneys at Kershaw, Cutter & Ratinoff helped 9/11 victims submit claims to the Fund, obtaining exceptional results.
Based on our experience with Mr. Feinberg, we understand the level of documentation needed to present claims for damages in order to achieve the maximum recovery.
Additionally, if participation in the escrow account claims process does not result in adequate compensation, KCR and BJOL have the experience and resources to pursue claims in court. Over the years we have obtained hundreds of millions of dollars for our clients throughout the country.
