Investigation of Zynga's Transactions With Minors Playing Online Games Like Farmville, Mafia Wars
Attorneys at Kershaw, Cutter & Ratinoff are investigating reports that minors have been charged unauthorized fees by social network gaming company, Zynga.
The firm recently reached a landmark decision in their class action case against Zynga over Zynga's deceptive and fraudulent practice of presenting so-called "free offers" to their customers. Zynga fought to have the case dismissed based on the Communications Decency Act (CDA); however, the Federal District Court hearing the case denied Zynga's motion and determined that Zynga was not entitled to immunity under the CDA, forcing Zynga to answer the Plaintiff's complaint.
According to many social gamers, this has not kept Zynga from engaging in unscrupulous tactics to fleece money from users of their free online games - only now the users being scammed are children. According to reports, Zynga has refused to refund hundreds of real-world charges for "virtual currency" that were incurred by children.
If your child has incurred charges playing Zynga games like Farmville, Mafia Wars, Cityville, or Yoville, when they are playing from their own Facebook accounts, we would like to hear from you. Please call us at 888-285-3333 or send us an email to tell us your story.
